When measuring an optical fibre with an OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflect meter) it is necessary to have a certain length of fibre in order to allow the pulses to travel some distance before they can generate reliable measurements. The small and compact size of the launch box makes it easy to carry it along with the OTDR equipment. The box provides a high level of protection against air, water and dust and is also approved for military applications. The total length of fibre is stored under a cover for a better protection and each end of it is a 2mm pigtail for axial protection. Micro fibre spools can also be integrated into Optotec panels to achieve compact solutions for RD and testing purposes.
